What is this platform?
Welcome to U-KNOW and U-TRANSFER, two tools developed within the UPPER project to support knowledge exchange and capacity building in public transport. These tools are available through a single, shared platform that brings together valuable resources, training, and practical solutions.
- U-KNOW focuses on sharing good practices, project results, evaluation methods, and a glossary of key terms.
- U-TRANSFER supports capacity building by offering tailored guidance, training materials, and insights from UPPER activities, especially aimed at cities and stakeholders beyond the project.
Together, they help users tackle challenges in urban mobility and make more informed decisions to improve public transport systems.
What is U-KNOW and what purpose does it serve?
U-KNOW is an online portal designed to promote innovation, share best practices, and support knowledge transfer in the field of public transport. It helps public authorities, transport operators, researchers, and other stakeholders:

- Understand the impact of public transport measures
- Navigate academic and policy developments in urban mobility
The goal is to empower users with information on what works, how it works, and why it makes a difference.

What is U-TRANSFER and what purpose does it serve?
U-TRANSFER is a publicly available platform where UPPER results, lessons learned, and outcomes will be transferred providing:
- tailored webinars
- trasferability guidelines
- trasferability workshops
U-TRANSFER is aimed at cities and stakeholders not directly involved in the project, but who would be interested in replicating the project findings and applying the push-pull measures described in the cities.
Who can use and benefit from U-KNOW and U-TRANSFER?
This platform is intended for:
- Public transport operators and authorities
- Urban planners and policy makers
- Researchers, academics, and mobility professionals
- Local and regional governments
- Citizens, community groups, and anyone interested in sustainable transport
U-KNOW supports those looking to explore evidence-based knowledge, while U-TRANSFER helps users apply this knowledge through training and capacity-building activities.

In the Capacity Building section:
- Transferability Guidelines: Straightforward examples originated from the almost 80 measeures developed within Upper Cities&Region. Through U-TRANSFER, the UPPER cities will share challenges, enablers and recommendation to perform their replication journey.
- 8 tailored workshops with Upper ‘living labs: The UPPER results, lessons learned, and outcomes will be transferred to 10 additional take-up cities committed to becoming climate-neutral, selected in M30
- Tailored webinars-workshops: Trainings and webinars produced within UPPER and other Civitas and NZC eu funded projects such as Spine, Reallocate, Elaborator, Move21 and other

Please note: This platform is currently under development. While content is actively being created, some resources may not yet be available
How do I access the different resources available on U-KNOW?
To find the content you need, you can:
- Click on the “Resources” or “Evaluation” tabs in the main menu to filter by topic, content type, country, and more
- Use the search bar to look up specific keywords
If you want to understand key terms in the field, you can also visit the Glossary section through the main menu.
Can I contribute to the platform? If so, how?
Yes, you can contribute content to U-KNOW.
Here’s how:
- Click on the “Suggest Content” button in the top-right corner of the menu.
- Fill in the form with a reference and either a valid link or supporting document.
- If accepted, you will receive an email from the U-KNOW team with a template to complete and submit.
Please note that materials cannot be uploaded directly. This ensures that everything published on the platform is reviewed, relevant, and accessible.
Content suggestions must meet a few basic criteria:
- They must relate to public transport
- They should show measurable impact or results
- They need to fit into one of U-KNOW’s accepted content types
You cannot contribute to U-TRANSFER, all sources will originate from within UPPER.
How often is the content on the platform updated?
The platform is updated regularly as part of the UPPER project, which runs until January 2027.
We are continuously adding new materials to U-KNOW, including:
- Project results and research findings
- Case studies and best practices
- Evaluation tools and frameworks
If you have valuable content to share, we encourage you to use the Suggest Content feature and help expand the platform’s impact.
We also update the U-TRANSFER section with new workshops and capacity-building materials as they become available.
